Learning of George's passing brought tears to my eyes. I had talked to Sam as a Red Cross worker with a heavy heart having gone on the DAT call and finding out it was someone I knew.
George was one of the only wood turners who paid a visit to my woodshop. I had made some display items for his booth of his woodturnings. I'll miss him as a good friend. My condolences to his family and his three dogs.
Blessings, Tom McMillan

George spoke about his boys and his dogs each time I saw him. He always made me laugh, and he had a huge heart. I will miss him greatly.

May the Lord give Thomas and Sam the strength and support to get through this tragic loss. Find your peace in knowing the struggle is over for George, as he is healthy, safe, and secure in the arms of his heavenly father. Even so, this is not something you will ever "get over." Brothers, stick together and learn to live with this unwelcome change in your life. My thoughts and prayers are with you.

He was a wonderful customer through the QP Gas Station in Sylva. I will never forget our talks and laughs...man was it hard to get him to laugh sometimes, but I did! And that sweet Brown pup! She had to have her bones when they can through. Praying for everyone in the family!

My thoughts and prayers on your loss. George came into my life after I lost my Husband Dale Hamilton.
I was visiting my parents Jack and Sue Wakeley at Cullowhee United Methodist Church and George welcomed me to church.
He was a kind Man filled with love and often spoke with a Fathers pride of his two sons. We spoke often on Sunday mornings before services and it was then we discovered his brother James was a coworker and friend of my late husbands.
George encouraged me to join the bell choir at church and it was such a joy.
I will think fondly of George and just like in the movie "It's a wonderful life" every time a bell rings an angel gets his wings... I will remember George.
peace be with you.
Laina.

We are sorry to hear of George's passing. Your family is in our thoughts and prayers.
George called August 19th to talk about the upcoming eclipse. On August 31st he sent an email to thank Charles for the pictures taken of the eclipse. They spoke with each other over a week ago when he invited Charles to come up for a visit. They met 53 years ago in June of 1964 when George was 12. They went hunting together during their youth with his brother, James, Mr. Yates, and Charles' dad . They hung around after school. George liked to explore caves and had many other interests. Charles said that when George played the saxophone the family dogs would sing along.
Memories last forever, they help to remember the good times.
