I’m sorry to be giving my Condolences to the family so late as I just learned about this because I live out of state. I’m in a nursing home and don’t get much news but I graduated with Terry and want you all to know you are in my prayers.

Dearest Matt,
Please know that my thoughts are with you entire family. Terry will be greatly missed, especially here at the farm in Horse Shoe. His visits were always helpful and so much fun. He always fit in. So glad he came to visit the week- end of the Super Bowl to watch the game with us. He and I had pizza and ginger ale on my steps because of the unusually warm and beautiful February day, then so soon afterwards he was gone. Love his heart.

Thinking of Matt and the family! Terry was so good to me as a freshman at App and we enjoyed so many good times and talks/laughs over the years. He was a great friend and we always said "love ya brother" before hanging the phone up! He was like a big brother to me thru the years! RIP Brother! Luv u and Miss u!

My deepest sympathies to Matt and the family for your loss. I lived next door to Terry my freshman year at App. From day one, he was kind and inclusive to this rookie and I appreciated his friendship. Later, the occasions we spent fishing with the group in Sylva were always fun and filled with laughter, old stories, and lively conversations. He will be missed but remembered.

I am so very sad to learn of Terry’s passing. I am ashamed to admit that I had lost contact with him after being so close for a number of years. Terry loved life and was always truly the life of the party. For many years we were close friends and neighbors and Terry was always there for anyone who needed him. I remember how incredibly happy and proud he was when his son Matt was born. He loved being a dad. My deepest condolences to his family and friends. Although we lost touch, I will always remember our friendship and I am so glad I got to know Terry. Rest In Peace old friend.

I was saddened to hear the news of Terry's passing. As a "fellow" ASU alumni, ASU football fan, friend & former neighbor (in Charlotte, NC), there are way too many memories to share in this small space. One thing for sure is that whenever Terry was around there was always fun to be had. Terry fully embraced whatever the situation was- he lived large! He was a great friend to many and loved his family. I remember when Matt was born and how very proud both Terry and Nancy were. Now it's time for Terry to spend time in heaven with other friends and family who have gone before him. May God bless the family and wrap His arms around you, and give you peace.
With love & prayers, Lynn Thacher Sarvis

I was so sad when Nancy let me know Terry had passed. My mind immediately went to the great times we had at ASU during football season, the rest of the school year and summers. I will never forget when a picture was taken of Terry stretching for a catch in a game and the caption was something about Smith making a vain attempt. We went around town and bought every newspaper and kidded him about his “ vain attempt.” He was fun to be around and a good friend! Matt, I am so sorry for your loss. RIP friend!

My heart skipped a few beats when I heard the news of my friend Terry's passing. He definitely was one of kind! Our days at App State were filled with laughter and joy! He was a great friend to his classmates, and he was always there for his teammates. He was a much better athlete than he was a backgammon strategist. From our Monday Night Football viewings to our summertime party's, Terry was always there to enhance the liveliness of each and every event. I know Terry loved his friends dearly, but Matt was his greatest treasure. I will miss seeing my friend at ASU sporting events, however his presence on the sidelines of GOD'S all stars makes that team stronger today than ever before.
Rest in Peace my friend for you have earned it.
Your Friend,
Paul "Knute" Staley

Terry was one of the best storytellers I have ever known. Most of our encounters over the past 10 years had been unexpected, but I got excited every time we got a chance to catch up. Some of my best high school memories are from being around Terry. I know he'll be missed by his family and I am sorry for your loss.

Please accept our most humble condolences for the passing of Terry. Kim played football at App with Terry and have been lifelong friends. Our first children Matt and Kristen were born on the same day, same hospital, and Terry ran between our room and theirs all night! We were so blessed to have had his wonderful friendship for so many years! He will be missed by so many and certainly by his App State brothers!!! Blessed thoughts and prayers to you all.
