Thank you Chig for all the many good things you did for the folks in this area. Also, for the many times you MC'd our singings, at NO cost to us, the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, or any one that I know. Your rewards will be great. We shall miss you my friend. Gospel Music shall miss you also. Our love to Peggy and the rest of the family at this trying time. God Bless

From my early boyhood days in Sylva, Chig has always been one of my favorites. Throughout the years we shared many memories as well as opinions. I consider his friendship special.

My late husband Terry Pace and I always bought our vehicles from Chig.I recall the last time we went down to buy a van,Chig was telling me stories of when Terry worked as a repo man for Citifinancial many moons ago.Chig would help Terry with the hard to round up vehicles down there,Terry would sit in the office with Chig shooting the bull until all hours of the night then they would pounce on the repoed vehicle.Lordy we loved that man.I can see he and my husband sitting in Heaven right now shooting bull and each of them trying to outdo eachother to see who could tell the biggest whopper. We were indeed blessed and honored to have Chig as a friend.

I have memories of Chig back to my younger years as he mc'd singings. I saw him at the tag office one day and asked him if he had heard about The Gospel Gaither Singing, tapes. He said he hadn't. I brought him the ones I had to watch and he loved them.I saw him a couple of months ago at Ingles and he said he still enjoyed them. He had bought a lot of them through the years and loved the singing. He never failed to speak and greet people. He had a good heart.

Growing up next door to each other in Possum Hollow, Chig and I spent countless hours doing all kinds of things together. He was a great friend. The best thing, I'm sure, that he ever did was marry Peggy, who was my very first date after I received my driver's license way back in 1950. You, Peggy, and your children and other family members are in our prayers.

Truly a wonderful, personable man who always had a warm smile, kind words and well wishes for his fellow man, neighbors and family. Chig's generosity to schools, community, churches, sports teams, the sick, the elderly and those less fortunate will stand as his legacy for years to come. May he rest "high on that mountain" with our Lord!

Peggy, just read the news about Chig. So very sorry for your loss, but you were blessed to have such a long life together. You will see this is a name from your very old past, but Jackson natives tend to keep up with the local news as we hold many memories of old friends and school mates from our past. God Bless you and all the family...Hilda McGinnis Hoffman-Arnold, from days of old.
