Obituary of Earl Dowdle

Earl Dowdle, 76, of Sylva, passed away Tuesday evening June 11, 2013. A native of Macon County, he was the son of the late Plenny and Launa Norris Dowdle. He was a foreman for Bizzark Construction in Kentucky where he retired after over 20 years of service. He loved camping , boating and his tractors and worked as hard as he could for as long as he could. He loved and adored his family and friends especially his grandchildren. Besides his parents he was preceded in death by his daughter, Lisa Settlemyre, 2 great grandchildren- Caleb McFalls and Braxxton Moore and by 6 brothers and 1 sister. He is survived by his wife of 55 years Joyce Dillard Dowdle Son- Johnny (Paula) Dowdle of Sylva Daughter- Tina Dowdle (Steve) Moore of Sylva Grandchildren- Joshua Earl Dowdle, Jeremiah Lee Dowdle, Samantha Ashe McFalls, Steven Cody Moore, Brandi Nicole Moore, Halie Michelle Settlemyre 7 Great Grandchildren 2 Brothers- Charlie and Ray Brendle 6 Sisters- Bonnie Kelly, Nell Goforth, Marie Brabson, Louise Williamson, Pauline Stiwinter, Carolyn Chastain Funeral Services will be held 2:00 PM Friday June 14 in the Chapel of Appalachian Funeral Services with the Revs. Charles Dean and Johnny Ray Davis officiating. The family will receive friends from 1 until 2:00 PM prior to the service at the Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery.
