Mike and I were both baptized at Blue Creek Baptist Church in 1983 by Pastor Sutton and we were so blessed by his preaching and love as newlyweds! Mike was able to visit with him in Sylva, NC a few years back. We look forward to seeing him again! I just decided to do a search and came up with this announcement. Our prayers go out to his family!

Our condolences to you in the passing of your father. Rev. Sutton was wonderful man who played a great role in our lives when we young. I will always be thankful for the love, friendship & pastoral care he gave our family especially during my mothers long battle with cancer. He did much to soothe her fears and often would pray her to sleep.
To lose such a fine man as a father is a heavy loss, but you can be comforted knowing he is in the presence of the savior he deeply loved & faithfully served. He is receiving his "Well Done".

Dear Bessie,
My sympathy goes out to all the family with this great loss. BUT this note it to you because I do not really know any of the family.
You have been such an example in how you have taken care of Rev. Bill. I admire you so much.
Many people in a new marriage would have said no way this is not my responsibility. Thank you for all you did and gave and gave up to take care of him. I know GOD is so pleased with you.
I took care of my Dad but I had a lifetime of care from him,and it was my honor to return that care and a lifetime of precious memories of the best Dad your position had to be so much harder.
My sweetest memory is watching Rev. Bill sing every word of every hymn. Even when he came in so confused and not really understanding anything he worshipped from the depths of his heart.
I have cried many Sundays as I watched him sing it so touched my heart. There was not anything going on in the world that took his attention. It was just pure worship. Love to you

To Doug, Sherri, David and Michael...! I'm so sorry for the loss but celebrating the fact ...not so much that he has died....BUT THAT HE LIVED..! I'm sure he touched several peoples lives. What he had in the four of you is priceless. You all are the "salt of the earth" and I am so blessed to have you as neighbors. Your sons are incredible and obviously knew their Grandfather and now follow in his positive ways.
With sincerity and respect...Gil

I was so sad to hear about Mr Bill's passing. He used to come and teach every week at Life Challenge in Sylva from 2009-2011. His love for God was so evident. He had such a sweetness and patience when he taught. I learned so much about faith and serving others from Mr. Bill. He will be missed.
I am sorry for your loss.

Rev. Sutton was a true man of G_D. He tended his sheep well and visited them often. He was faithful to his Lord and Master until the end. I believe he was granted a long life because of his service to others.
May you, the members of his family, be assured that he was well loved and will be missed by not only you, but others of us as well.
May the LORD give you peace and comfort.

I give thanks to the Lord for allowing me to know Brother Bill. Serving in churches (Blue Creek and Tar Landing) just down the road from each other, Bill was my Barnabas, ever encouraging me. The times we shared together, even a few golf outings, would end with prayer.
