I am so sorry to hear about Arnold's passing. There was never a more generous or kinder soul than he. Always had a kind word, a joke, or a bit of advice (if asked for) to all of us who drove him crazy over the years. We are all less fortunate in this world with his passing.
Love and condolences to Cindy, David, Kathy, and Mark. I am truly sorry for your loss. I will always treasure the memories we had at (and below) the Cullowhee Cafe. God bless.

I want to extend my heart felt sympathy to the family of Arnold Ashe. I had the pleasure to get to know Arnold several years ago enjoying the game of golf. Even now as I am now back working in Jackson County I always enjoyed briging up golf in one form or another when I saw Arnold at the Cafe. It was truly a pleasure to know Arnold and he always made me feel good as I'm sure he did with the other people's lives he touched.

David, Kathy, Cyndi, and Mark:
I learned of Arnold's passing after the visitation and funeral service, so was unable to express to you in person my regard for Arnold. In every encounter, I admired the way he treated others and appreciated his friendship.
You and he will be in my thoughts and prayers.
With warmest regards and sympathy,
Joe Carter

What an honor it has been to know Mr Ashe. In a very little amount of time, he made a major impact on me. What a beautiful moment it must have been for him to see his Father. As his family, I pray comfort for you all. Allow your happy memories to flood your hearts and minds when you think of your daddy. Wishing you all the best.

To say that Arnold never met a stranger is an understatement. I remember the first time I walked in the cafe, ordered my soon to be usual of Western Omlette, 12 eggs over easy, country ham, grits and toast. It didn't take long for the cook to come out to see who's eyes had overloaded their stomach. That day, I walked in the Cafe an stranger and left a friend.
From that day forward, I had a life long friend with Arnold Ashe, his awesome wife and his children. For the next 5 years I enjoyed countless meals and conversations at the Cafe. Certain days at college were lonely, missing your family and walking into that restaurant and see his smiling face, could change any day.
Arnold did something private for me that my family either could not or would not do during my stint at WCU. I never forgot it, he treated me like a son and not the kind from a second marriage. He had a special place in his heart for helping people and today I am a better man for it.
To Kathy, Cindy, David and Mark...my heart is heavy today knowing the loss your family has incurred. I hope knowing that your Dad made a difference in the lives of people he came in contact with, and the many memories, will help ease your pain. He will never be forgotten.
May you feel God's presence during this difficult time, but know how happy Arnold is to be home with Murial and the Lord. We shall see him again.
