Obituary of Arnold B. Ashe

Arnold B. Ashe, 75, of Cullowhee, went home to be his Lord and beloved wife Muriel of 40 years in Heaven, Sunday September 20, 2015. A native and lifelong resident of Jackson County, Arnold was the son of the late Berlin and Lillian Shelton Ashe. In his younger years Arnold was an Eagle Scout and at Cullowhee High School was an outstanding Basketball and baseball player. Out of college he went to Darrington, Washington with his family to work in the logging business. Afterwards he moved to Cape Canaveral in Florida where he maintained satellite domes for a while. He also worked at Dayco as an accountant until he started and owned his own logging company followed by a small trucking company. Finally he settled back in the family business that was established in 1948 by his parents at the Cullowhee Café. He was a former member of the Jackson County Golf Club as well as the Jackson County Bass Club. He never met a stranger and was willing to lend a hand to anyone. He is survived by 4 children and one step son; Mark Ashe of Woodstock, GA. Cindy Jarman of Cullowhee David Ashe of Cullowhee Kathy Millsaps and her husband Donnie of Sylva Derek Brown of Asheville 2 Grandsons- Dock Jarman and Cole Lamb also survive Funeral Services will be held 11:00 am Thursday September 24 in the Chapel of Appalachian Funeral Services with the Rev. John Reid officiating. Burial will follow at Fairview Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends Wednesday evening from 6:00 until 8:00 pm at the Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Pisgah Manor, 95 Holcombe Cove Rd., Candler, NC 28715 .
