Sandy,
I am sorry to hear this news. Your mom was a great friend to all of us growing up in Jackson County back in the day. As was your dad. What wonderful memories I have of them. I hope you can find some comfort in knowing they are rejoicing in their reunion in Heaven. My prayers are with you and your family.

Sandy, my thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. The last time I saw Velma was on May 5, the day of my mom's funeral. It was such a gift and blessing to see her again. She was, as always, her beautiful smiling self, exuding an amazing warmth and love. Your mom and dad were incredible icons for the youth at East Sylva when we were growing up. I miss those days. Please know that their legacy lives on.
Take care and God bless,
Wanda Gunter Bradford

What a loss for you and your family. I loved Velma so much. What an exemplary life she lived. Ever since Bud passed away, she has wanted to be with him. Can you imagine what a reunion she is having in heaven. Of course, she is with the One she loved and lived her whole life for.
I will miss her greatly. She and I have had so many wonderful "talks".
She was in my Sunday School class for the past years, and Oh! what a blessing she was to everyone.
In our selfishness, we will miss her but there is no way I would bring her back. She has left a wonderful example for all of us. My desire is to see her again soon!!! Love this woman!!!

What a great lady. Bud and Ms. Velma stand out in my memories as a child growing up at East Sylva Baptist Church and as an adult. They were the adults you looked up to as a child and the ones who prayed for you as you grew. Thank God for couples like them.

Please accept my sympathies and condolences on the death of your dear Velma Lou. I never had the pleasure of meeting her; however, I am related to her. I am the granddaughter of her father's sister, Many Gosnell Gunter. I love family history, so I know about Velma Lou through my research. May she rest in peace.

Sandy, Your mother was very special to me. I worked in the Tax Office in the old courthouse and she has remained a special friend over the years. It is sad that as Sylva Webster graduates I have not seen you. Kenny always thought so much of you and Doug and I always thought of his friends as mine. You and your family will be in my prayers, Linda Melton Jamison
