So very sorry to hear about your mother's passing. We were her neighbors across the road. Catherine was the very first to welcome us to Greens Creek when we moved there 12 years ago. We were cleaning the house in preparation of moving in and she came over, introduced herself and invited us for lunch that very day. She had a spread and it was delicious! She could make the best potato cakes of anyone! Greens Creek wasn't the same after she moved from her home. We've missed her laughter and friendship! She was a very special lady! Thoughts and prayers to you all!

Catherine was a customer of ours for many years. When she became unable to drive she organized the others widows in the community to ride the transit (to stay independent as long as they could). Catherine rode "shot gun" on the transit. She made the phone calls each week (on a land line) to remind them when the bus would arrive. She had the route planned out based on each of their needs. Their first stop was here. She would "ram rod" the ladies in here- help them keep their accounts straight and could keep up with their balance as well as her own. We keep a dish of peppermints on the desk and she would count out the exact number she needed for everyone on the bus- 11 or 12 and one for the "chauffeur" Mr. Del Reid. Each December she would request a Lewis Oil calendar for each one- Then she would herd them back to the bus and have them ready for their next stop on the route. Catherine was a very thoughtful generous lady- she had a perpetual infections happy personality. She gave true meaning to "love thy neighbor".

Connie & Kathy, My parents were Dennis & Bettie Burke. They were neighbors to your mom on Greens Creek. My children & I would visit as often as possible. One of the highlights of our trip would be roasting marshmallows around a fire and talking with your mom! She would tell us which way the rain clouds come from & about the wooly worm .... If it would be a cold or mild winter. She was an amazing lady and we were honored to have known her!!!!!

Our prayers are with all the family. My husband Jerry and I enjoyed visiting Catherine as often as we could when she was living on Greens Creek. She was such a blessing to me after my mother, Peggy Green McMahan passed away. She always made us feel so welcome. I loved Catherine very much, will miss her laughter and cherish her memory always. God bless you all during this time.
