Obituary of Glen Alan Parker

Yeoman Senior Chief Glen Alan Parker, U.S. Coast Guard, Ret., 56, passed away on February 26, 2016. Left to cherish his memory are his daughters Amy Parker and Bonnie Parker Colwell (Logan); his mother Dot Weller(Ted), his father Fred Parker (Josie), his sister Debbie Mintz (Eric), brothers Mike Parker (Linda), Dean Parker (Anna Paul), Henry Hand (Lorie), sisters Esther Martinez (Juan), Veresa Parker, brothers Carl Parker (Samantha), Robert Parker. Uncles Ray Risner (Judy) and Bob Parker (Pam). Also his daughters mother Susan Parker, and former stepmother Tammy Royal, many cousins, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by brother Mark Parker, sister Celia Hand, grandparents, Joseph and Francis Risner, Fred and Buelah Parker. Glen was also preceded by his dear and close friend Paul Wayne John Reid, who is surely now guiding Glen through his newly found paradise. He will be sadly missed by his numerous riding buddies, former shipmates and lifelong friends from North Carolina, Virginia, Louisiana, Texas, California, Alaska, Maine, Ohio and other places around the country. There is not enough room in any venue to list all those touched and affected by his passing. Glen was born April 1, 1959 and raised in Norfolk and Chesapeake, VA, where he graduated from Great Bridge High School in 1977. He joined the US Navy shortly after and served proudly on-board the USS Piedmont, based in Norfolk. Following his active duty, he continued serving in the Naval Reserves while working various civilian jobs until he changed course and joined the US Coast Guard in 1984. For the next 20 years Glen served proudly on various ships and stations in Virginia, Maine, Alaska and California finally retiring in 2004 with over 26 years of service. Glen enjoyed his retirement, living life to the fullest, traveling often to visit his family and friends. He enjoyed being in the fresh air of the great outdoors, especially on his beloved Harley, alone and with friends. Whether it was riding through the Blue Ridge Mountains, Cape Hatteras National Seashore, or many other beautiful places, there was nothing he enjoyed more than experiencing the beauty of nature from the freedom of his bike. Glen's Life will be celebrated with family and friends at a later date. The wind will take his ashes across the sea. . .
