Obituary of Ronald Edmond Cox

Ronald Edmond Cox, 68, of Cashiers, NC, passed away at Elizabeth House on March 15, 2016 following a lengthy illness. Ron, born and raised in Belton, SC, was the son of James Bailey Cox and Sara Garrison Cox. He attended Mars Hill College and The University of South Carolina in preparation for his career as a Counselor. Ron remained in his profession for over 30 years in Anderson, SC where he raised his family. Ron and his wife, Janis, retired in Cashiers, NC where he enjoyed antiquing, studying family history, and visiting with his many friends at the local coffee shop, Buck's. He is preceded in death by his parents and survived by his wife of 39 years, Janis Howell Cox, Cashiers NC, son, Garrison Reid Cox, and his wife Nicole Lamarche Cox, Santa Maria, CA, daughter Claire Louise Cox, Glenville, NC, brother Thomas Mitchell Cox, and his partner Dr. Kenneth Daniel Adcock, Highlands, NC, and sister Jane Cox Moon, Georgetown, SC. A memorial service will be held on Sunday, March 20, 2016 at 3:00 PM at The Church of the Good Shephard, 1448 Highway 107 South, Cashiers, NC 28717. A reception will follow in the church parrish hall. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Church of the Good Shephard, Post Office Box 32, Cashiers, NC 28717.
